Our Pubs – The Greyhound

The Greyhound is an historic grade 2 listed pub dating back to 1734.

The Greyhound is situated on The Derby Mile, which was once a famous local pub crawl from the Markeaton island leading into the city centre.  Sadly there isn’t much left of the mile these days as many of the pubs have now closed. The Greyhound itself had been closed for a number of years when we bought it in December 2009 and was re-opened in May 2010 following an extensive renovation project and became the second Derby Brewing Company pub.

Looks can be deceiving where The Greyhound is concerned, from the outside it looks like a small traditional pub, but once you pop in you will be pleasantly surprised.

The pub combines fantastic original features such as oak beams and an original fireplace with modern twists, such as a new European oak bar, exposed original brickwork and bi-folding doors looking out to our walled garden and roof terrace. Combined with our quirky artwork collection of ‘The Dead Good Kids’ designed by Martin Hyde and a fantastic food and drinks selection to top it off.

In early 2013 we  started work on the upstairs rooms at The Greyhound which had been left untouched in the initial renovation, and in June 2013 we launched ‘The Dead Good Function Room’ as the perfect space for private parties, which features its own private bar and leads out onto the roof terrace.

The Drinks

The Greyhound isn’t just about the building. We also offer an unrivalled selection of world beverages including 10 hand selected real ales, with at least 5 of our own Derby Brewing Company ales. A great selection of world beers, with 10 draught lagers, two of which are American craft beers. If that isnt enough for you we have even more in bottle. We also have two draught ciders, world wines, a fantastic selection of spirits and a selection of ‘doggy’ influenced shots and cocktails. There is something for everyone including our legendary racks.

The Food

We also serve a great selection of homemade locally sourced food, all prepared and cooked on site. From the old favourites to something a bit different we’re sure you’ll find something to take your fancy on the menu.
